Since the beginning of my internship I wanted to go to Canyon Forest and for last Sunday I could convince 8 other crazy SAP employees and Inters to go there with me to have as much fun as possible on my last free day! We made a reservation 2 days before and bought the tickets very cheap at the CE. Canyon Forest is a High Ropes Course (Hochseilgarten) with four different parcours located in the middle of a amazing forest and canyon landscape nearVilleneuve-Loubet.
Accompanied by two guides we were going to the center of the parc by bike. The funny yellow bikes for the 2,5 km long way to the parcours are included in the price. As it seems to be impossible for some of us to ride a bike, Riz crashed his bike completely! Finally it was the guide who had to offer him his bike and who was going by foot! Just some minutes later it was Johann having some trouble with his bicycle chain. My comment on this: no bicycles for men studying computer science – they are only used to push the reset button when game over what is unfortunately not working in real life! 🙂
After we have reached the center we got our sexy equipment: Helmet, gloves, harnesses, karabiners, pulleys, ropes. Before we could start we got instructions on how to use our equipment and how to safe and secure oureselves from falling. Everybody could practice once in a little parcour on the ground how to use the karabiners and pulleys. As we were a group we decided all to do the red parcour (medium) which should guarantee the maximum of fun! The most important rule for us all: always be secured with two karabines and never move both on the same time.
So we started the parcours with 40 stations or better with 40 obstacles high above the ground in the trees pushing each other to top form. Some stations were very tricky challenging skills, concentration, power, body control and self conquest. The course was very well balanced and brought a lot of fun with numerous ropeways (Seilbahnen) like on the video where Hamdi is sliding across the river!
Describing all the stations would be too long, so please look at the photos. We had two cameras with us and really everybody did the same stations – so you will get an overview about almost all of them! For me the highlight was the long ropeway along the river – it was great fun. The most difficult part was for sure crossing the trunks which were hanging vertically in the air fixed with only one cord swinging wherever they could!
After the approximately 3 hours of parcours I was really exhausted and today (24 hours later) I feel every muscle in my body 🙂 !I am proud that we could all finish the parcours without any grave injuries. Sorry for Johann who was injured by a rock falling down the conyon.
It was a perfect last trip for me!!!
Merci à vous tous pour accompagner moi et pour avoir beaucoup de plaisir avec une équipe internationale dans les cimes des arbres.
